Thicker with a top protective coating
While all vinyl is durable, the luxury version is five times thicker than an original sheet. It's also multi-layered, and that, in itself, makes something more robust and firmer. At the top is a wear layer with a clear, strong melamine coating that guards against scratches and scuffs, and a urethane coating on top makes it even more robust.

There are numerous benefits, and high-end style is just one of them. The images are inspired by nature with realistic photos of wood, stone, and tile. Taken with 3D photography, they're clear, accurate, and vibrant with knots, grains, swirls, growth rings, veining variations, and brilliant colors and patterns.
Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. For even more realism, the material can be cut and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, or LVP. It can also be cut into groutable squares that can be mixed and matched to create your design; this is called luxury vinyl tile or LVT.
It's also low maintenance, only requiring regular sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner; please avoid waxy, shine-promoting ones as they can damage the urethane finish and dull the floor. Installation can also be easy, especially when it's a floating floor where the pieces click together and mat and hover over the subfloor without nails or glue.
